Boat Cleaning Tips – Magic Eraser
Boats get dirty! That’s just a fact of life and as to be expected as we travel from one fishing destination to the next. Saltwater, dust, road grime, fish slime, the list goes on.
These cooler months are a great time to give your boat the once over in preparation for the season ahead. Cleaning is just one area that should be looked at to keep your boat looking like new.
For me there’s about a hundred things id rather be doing than cleaning and maintenance. If your in this same boat (pun intended) it might be worth checking out the cleaning isle of your local supermarket, there in the sponge section you’ll find a product called the Chux Magic Eraser.
“Now ill try do the next bit without sounding too much like an infomercial”
Commonly used for cleaning bathrooms and marks off walls, I’ve found these sponges particularly effective for cleaning all manner of boating parts and accessories. When compared to a microfiber cloth, they not only clean surfaces quicker and easier, but also remove more ground in dirt than what was possible with the cloth.
In all the below examples the surfaces was first cleaned with a regular microfiber cloth, then wiped over with the Magic Eraser.
Paintwork – Before: Small rub marks along top of gunnel.
Plastic Console – Left hand side shows regular cleaning with soapy water and microfiber cloth – Right side done with the Magic Eraser.
Vinyl Wrap– Before: Plastic/Rubber rub mark from bow roller on trailer.
Vinyl Boat Seats – Left hand side shows regular cleaning with soapy water and microfiber cloth – Right side done with the Magic Eraser.
Minn Kota – Looking all brand new again.
The applications are practically endless and well worth having in the cleaning kit for those stubborn hard to remove marks and stains.
